We’re proud of the intelligent, passionate, and hardworking people that make up the Bright Power team. Each month, you’ll get a chance to meet one of them, understand how they contribute to the organization, and what makes them excited to come to work every day.
Meet Orly Arbit, Manager of Outreach and Education.
What are some of the things you like most about working at Bright Power?
The people! I know it sounds cheesy but it’s true. At all levels, so many of my coworkers are driven, talented, and committed to Bright Power’s mission of mitigating climate change and having a positive impact on the world. I’ve been given many opportunities to take on new responsibilities, and I’ve had several mentors invested in my growth and success along the way. I’m so grateful for their constant support, and it has kept me motivated and fulfilled throughout my time at Bright Power.
What’s something people might not know about you or your role?
In addition to my main responsibilities as the Manager of Outreach, many people do not know that I also spend a lot of time working with partners to create educational materials for Green Mortgage Loan programs. While Bright Power’s main goal in supporting these programs is to benchmark and report data for the thousands of properties with Green Mortgage Loans, we also are responsible for communicating the value of these Green Mortgage Loans and helping stakeholders successfully manage the process and navigate the requirements. That means I’m collaborating with incredible Green Lending partners, multiple Bright Power teammates, as well as a capacity-building firm (TYTHEdesign) that uses design to create educational materials such as webinars, Frequently Asked Question documents, and helpful infographics. I love wearing the different hats of drafting materials, copyediting, and project managing to get each material from concept to completion.
Tell us about a project or accomplishment for which you’re proud.
Building the Green Mortgage Loan Outreach program from the ground up! When I started at Bright Power, we were still in the early stages of our work with a robust national Green Mortgage provider, and as we scaled up, I was able to help build out the dynamic and effective systems we have today. Most notably, I partnered with our technology team and other teams across Bright Power to customize Salesforce to meet the unique needs of the Outreach Team. I was also instrumental in formalizing our communication strategy. We now have very robust email templates, call scripts, and other resources to successfully engage with hundreds of Green Loan Borrowers each year. In 2021, we were able to onboard 99% of the new properties! None of that could have been possible without the incredible Outreach Specialists and the rest of the team.
You’ve been instrumental in building and developing an internship program at Bright Power. Tell us what motivated you to take on that initiative.
It’s easy to get lost as an intern, and I’ve found that more structure in an internship program has led to a more fulfilling and enjoyable experience for the entire team—interns and full-time employees. It’s helpful to make sure interns are engaged and invested in Bright Power. We have been able to keep great people by introducing them to Bright Power in an entry-level role. The internship I helped design is now being rolled out company-wide, and I’m excited to see other teams utilize something I created!
