Meet Yazan, Technical Lead on our Retrofit Consulting team. At Bright Power, Yazan provides retrofit expertise for a range of existing building projects. Yazan’s experience is invaluable in coordinating with project stakeholders, selecting contractors, identifying solutions, and overseeing construction activities. Working with incentive requirements and building codes, Yazan also stays up to date with the latest industry standards to ensure that our clients get the best advice possible.
Professional Background
After studying environmental engineering at The City College of New York (CUNY) and taking part in the Envirolution’s Win-Win Campaign, Yazan became an intern on the Audit team at Bright Power, working on Local Law 87 projects. Now with more than eight years at Bright Power, Yazan’s work has led to his current role as Technical Lead on the Retrofit Consulting team. Yazan’s career progression is a great example of how internal growth support and opportunity pathways across the organization can support highly motivated, hard working individuals in their roles.
Project Highlight
A highlight of his time at Bright Power is the Whitney Young Manor project. Consisting of 2 affordable housing towers in Yonkers, the project won $5 million from the NYSERDA Empire Building Challenge, and Bright Power conducted a comprehensive electrification feasibility study. The project was an exciting opportunity to investigate and showcase cutting-edge electrification strategies as an example for future replication.

He also appreciates the variety of his day-to-day and is excited to be in a dynamic role. Outside the office, Yazan can be found taking his foster dogs on walks, and cooking spicy Szechuan food!
