BuildingsNY 2011: Greener Greater NY: Energy Legislation Overview (March 30, 2011)
(BuildingsNY 2011: Jacob K. Javits Convention Center, NYC)
Co-Presenter: Jeffrey Perlman
Time: 4:00 pm – 5:00 pm
Description: New York City Local Law 84 requires all commercial buildings greater than 50,000 sq ft to benchmark energy and water use with the EPA ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager. Portfolio Manager is an interactive tool developed by the US EPA that uses statistically representative models to compare a building against similar buildings from the Commercial Building Energy Consumption Survey (CBECS). This session will discuss Local Law 2009-084 details, requirements, objectives and implications for building owners in years to come. We’ll also review the ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manger and the data requirements needed to develop a building benchmark. Since building owners are required to submit Portfolio Manager benchmarking results annually starting May 1, 2011, this is a session you won’t want to miss.
