What Owners & Managers Need to Know About the Greener, Greater Buildings Plan & Benchmarking Law (Session II) (March 7th, 2011)
(Urban Green Council, The Mohawk Group 71 West 23rd Street, 18th Floor New York, NY 10010)
Time: 6:00 PM – 7:30 PM
Speakers: Jeffrey Perlman, President & Founder – Bright Power Inc.; Russell Unger, Executive Director – Urban Green Council
This two-part presentation will begin with an overview of the fours laws – known as the Greener, Greater Buildings Plan – passed by the New York City Council in December 2009. All building owners and operators will be affected by the creation of the New York City Energy Conservation Code, which gives New York City direct control over its building energy standards. The remaining three laws on Benchmarking, Lighting and Submetering, and Audits and Retro-commissioning apply only to buildings of 50,000 square feet or more.
Our presentation by Bright Power President Jeffrey Perlman will focus on the these three laws with emphasis on compliance dates, including information on NYSERDA and Con Edison incentives and training for staff. The second part of the presentation will focus on Local Law 84, Energy & Water Benchmarking, which takes effect on May 1, 2011. Urban Green Council Executive Director Russell Unger will walk attendees through the Benchmarking User’s Guide & Compliance Checklist, a step-by-step guide to complying with the benchmarking law.
