In one of his last acts as Mayor of New York, Michael Bloomberg awarded the rights to develop the Bronxchester site in the South Bronx to a team that included Bright Power. The new development, called “La Central”, will consist of 5 buildings with 985 units of affordable housing, a YMCA gym and retail space. La Central will also boast a high level of energy efficiency and sustainable design – featuring a 500kW solar PV system, 600 kW co-generation system and smart storage that will generate energy for 100% of the common area load onsite and make the building resilient to power outages.
Bright Power is the lead energy and sustainability consultant for the project, which is expected to break ground in 2015.
