To help you stay ahead of regulatory changes, we are sharing highlights from the new version of the NYC Energy Conservation Code (NYCECC). Changes to the NYCECC may impact project design requirements. Here’s what you need to know:
- The new code was adopted in December 2025, and enforcement is expected to begin for job filings submitted on or after March 30, 2026.
- The 2020 NYCECC applies to all buildings with new work filings in NYC. It applies to new construction and renovations, setting higher standards than previous codes.
- The new NYC Energy Code aligns with the new statewide baseline set by the new Energy Conservation Construction Code of New York State (ECCCNYS), including energy efficiency measures for improved building performance and updated testing and inspection procedures.
The new version of the NYC Energy Code is expected to cut energy waste, reduce utility bills, and improve comfort and indoor air quality. Our team is ready to support you in meeting these requirements efficiently. Get in touch if you have any questions.
