Unlock Savings with NYSERDA’s Small Affordable Multifamily Energy Studies Offering

BLOGNEWS

Affordable multifamily building owners face the twin challenges of limited operating capital and aging systems—often resulting in high energy costs, outdated mechanical equipment, and challenges with maintaining occupant comfort. NYSERDA’s Small Affordable Multifamily Energy Studies (SAMES) offering is designed to help owners address these issues by offering 100% cost‑covered energy studies.

How SAMES Helps

  • Zero cost: Under the NYSERDA SAMES offering, properties will receive a fully funded ASHRAE Level II energy audit.
  • Objective, site-specific analysis: Audits are performed by a NYSERDA‑qualified contractor, examining building envelope, HVAC, lighting, ventilation, indoor air quality, and more.
  • Strategic planning: The SAMES audit report identifies opportunities to reduce energy consumption, categorized by their financial implications and carbon reduction potential. This report will also include deep energy retrofit opportunities such as ventilation upgrades, envelope upgrades, and electrification.
